A few weeks ago, I accompanied Marvin to a drum clinic at a church. Afterwards, the minister of music took us out for a bite to eat. My experience has been in most conversations with musicians, they talk about who they've played for and who they are currently with.
During the conversation, the minister told us about a bad experience he and his wife had with a church in a particular state. Years later, he was invited to return to that state to be on staff at a different church. His wife lumped the previous experience into hatred for the entire state. Because of that, he decided not to accept the offer. He said he was not going to relocate his family with his wife kicking and screaming; her feelings meant more to him. I let him know that was very admirable of him because I know some musicians that did not take their wives' feelings into consideration, and made decisions that affected her and the family and she was miserable the entire time.
He went on to tell us that before he could turn the offer down, his wife had a change of heart. She told him to take the position and that she's on board, and supports him. He is still on staff at that church today and they are both very happy and pleased he accepted the offer.
When God calls a man, he calls his family! The same thing happened with Marvin and I. When the call came to relocate to Houston, I was not in favor. It was only a few days later that God changed my heart. There was a tug in my spirit that if we didn't take this offer, we would miss a window of opportunity. I didn't see it then, however I decided to trust God and am so glad I did. He NEVER disappoints!
If you're in a forced situation right now and your husband is somewhere you really don't believe in your heart he should be, ask the Lord to give him a change of heart. Pray that God's perfect will be done in your situation. Pray that God's desires for your family becomes your husband's desires for your family. Ask the Lord to allow the hearts of the people he should be connected to be turned toward him. That's a prayer Marvin prays all the time, and we see God move in unbelievable ways.
The Bible says in Proverbs 10:22, "The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and he added no sorrow with it." That's not to say you won't experience challenges of any kind. It simply means that at the end of the day you have peace that you are where God wants you to be no matter what. And you want to be where the blessings and favor of God are.
If God is changing your heart, allow Him. He's a gentleman and won't force you into anything. But if you yield to the tug, blessings will be unleashed in ways you haven't imagined.
