"Life moves at the speed of relationship. You are one key person away from an entire world opening to you." -- Pastor Scott Jones.
I have been hearing that quote resonate in my mind for a few days. I've heard Pastor Scott say it before, but this time the revelation unfolded in how it relates to Marvin and I.
My interpretation of the word relationship would read as such: relation (a significant association) ship (a means of getting from one place to another).
People can trace their successes and failures to the relationships in their lives.
Every door we've walked through has been because someone opened it. Every gig has come from a relationship. Every endorsement he has is because of a relationship. Every invitation to go on tour came from someone who called. When the right window of opportunity opened, we were able to climb through because of the relationship we had with the people who opened it. We moved to Houston five years ago because of an invitation that derived from a relationship. Talking about a new world here; we are rich in relationships with some of the most genuine and loving people I've ever met.
An entire world has opened to Marvin and I because of his relationships with individuals in some facade of the music industry. Even after the season of working together, playing or traveling with, the bridges are still in place and either party may cross over at anytime. In other words, we still have the friendship. We understand the value of how vital relationships are and the fact that they must be nurtured and handled like fine china.
So what is this all about? Someone is holding the key to a new world for you and your family. It takes one person, that’s it and things can happen for you SUDDENLY. Continue to cultivate your relationships. Invest time in them. We love our friends outside of the aspect of music. We love their kids. We inquire about their parents and others that are close to them. We love them for who they are.
One of my favorite quotes is from Charlie "Tremendous" Jones. "Your life will be the same in five years from now except for the people you meet and the books you read."
Relationships...they are the key!
BTW, Pastor Scott is one of my AWESOME senior pastors www.gcofh.com and www.pastorscottjones.com
