Our Women's Life Development Class just completed Priscilla Shirer's Bible Study entitled, "One In A Million." This study encourages participants to fully engage in the abundant life God has waiting for those who will allow Him to take the lead in daily living. It's an opportunity to experience deliverance from strongholds, to conquer your wilderness living, and to claim your God-given inheritance. I can say I have a new perspective of the wilderness, being that its main objective is to achieve intimacy with God.
I have walked through many wilderness experiences as a musician's wife. Oh...but how I've grown closer to the Lord and have seen His handiwork in my life. I wanted the easiest and least challenging route, but God took me down the path that fostered a deeper relationship with Him. When we say we want to know Him more, we'd better buckle down and prepare for a journey.
I'm a wiser woman because of the wilderness. I'm a stronger woman because of the wilderness. I know how to be the wife my husband needs because of the wilderness. In fact, the way of the wilderness was required for me and what God has called me to. I didn't embrace those times of suffering as an opportunity to grow, I just wanted it to be over with already. However, when I surrendered to the process, Romans 8:18 became clear, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed in us." My life today is a complete replica of God's glory and grace.
I still have some uncharted territory ahead of me, but having experienced God's faithfulness through past seasons, I echo the church mothers that say, "I won't take nothin' for my journey."
